New Hampshire:
For over 15 years, Milli has been doing research on New Hampshire families for clients referred to her through online connections and from her listings at the NH Historical Society, NH Archives, NH Vital Records, and the
NH State Library. All you need to provide is what you know about your family so far, such as the names of your parents, their parents, birth or death dates, and approximate whereabouts. Milli prepares family group sheets or ancestral charts which map out the known information and the sources she uses to "prove" the facts. Materials used to back up your family's history can be town histories, published
genealogies, vital records, newspaper accounts, census, court or cemetery records.
Because most people do not have the time and energy to research their families until they reach retirement age, Rootin' for You has low prices so you can afford to find out your ancestry. Milli's belief is that this is your information and most of it is public record, available to those who have the patience and time to uncover the facts. Due to the economy, many towns and county courthouses have no staff to handle research requests. However, there are some town clerks and local historians who do not share the belief that access is a matter of public
record, and instead treat the records as their own personal domain, charging a high price for access to
the information, or refusing to allow access because they can. In those cases, there is little anyone can do to get
the information until local funding for adequate staffing, or the retirement of cranky clerks happens.
Laird Towle, Milli's former publisher and friend, began a free research website called New Hampshire Families, which goes a long way toward freeing up information that might otherwise be hard to find. In recent years, Milli
has begun to collaborate with Laird on
nhfamilies.com. She invites you to browse through her link. To find out the source and additional information, please click on "Notes/Sources" to find the citation where the information came from. In many cases the actual news clipping, deed, probate record, or census is abstracted for you under "Notes/Sources."
Please email Milli if you have any questions about using New Hampshire Families, or if you find your family and need more information. Despite the enormous volume of information at this website, Milli owns many sources from her private library, which have not yet been added to the database.
Let Milli give you a trial by submitting information for her to begin at no cost to you until you ask for print copies which are only .50 cents per copy. She will contact you if she has to do any traveling to town of birth for records at .65 cents per mile.
